We made it through our first year! Biggest success of the year sleeping through the night! most nights we do! It's crazy I didn't think I could be a mom and sleep so much ;) Also Rae has taken her first steps! It is so fun. She made a new friend Owen because my college friend Lara is staying with us for a month. Owen is 5 days younger than Rae so they had a combined birthday party. Rae had two parties, her family one last Saturday and her friend party today with Owen and her friend Lincoln. I took much more pictures today because it was less chaotic!
For their party game we let them "paint" with edible paints. Rae LOVED it, and Owen and Lincoln hated it.... so Rae ended up painting by herself but she didn't mind.
Rae has gotten pretty good at opening presents.
The theme for their cakes was "our little monsters"
Now the story with Rae and cake. Her first party I lit her candle and she touched it and burned herself then wouldn't eat her cake and just cried. Then the day after that party I gave her some chocolate cake which she then threw up. I guess that's what happens when you don't give your kid any desserts till their birthday. Then her second party I gave her another little cake and I didn't light the candle! still tears... (Owen's candle was lit so maybe that scared her). I left her sitting there sad with her cake long enough...
That she came around ;)
She likes to use utensils so that helped her get over her fear. She is asleep now but I am hoping all the sugar she ate stays in her... The frosting had very little sugar in it so I was more cautious this time.
We love this girl so much. I am so glad God sent her to me. I am a primary teacher and we sing this song I love that says, "God gave us families, to help us become what he wants us to be". Maybe that line refers to the kids growing up in their family but to me it is Rae helping me to become what God wants me to be. Makes me smile every time we sing it.
