Rae Days

I have a renewed interest in blogging the little things. I was thinking today how music can really change the way your thinking about a day. That "Brand New" song keeps coming on the radio when we are in the car (I don't expect my audience of grandmas to know the song). At almost 8 months pregnant I hardly feel brand new. Carrying Rae covered in pee kicking and screaming out of the library does not make me feel like new sunglasses and making dinner so I can eat it alone with Rae because Jeremy is working late and watching her turn my dinner into mush on her plate does not make me feel like a brand new pair of jeans. But when we are driving in the car it sure is convincing and I can sing it and pretend. We have had a few long days recently and we needed a pick me up. I also want to soak up my Rae days. Only six weeks left of just Rae and mama so we went to Bahama Bucks just the two of us.

They have a bucket of napkins on each table. You better believe we used that bucket!

Rae is getting so old and I feel like she recently changed again. She is so silly all the time. She likes to squeak and squeal and when she is happy she rolls on the ground and kicks her feet in the air. Today JP hoped over to her and she said uh-uh! Rae's tea party and shooed her away and then giggled and rolled on the ground kicking her feet in the air. Her favorite book is definitely The Run Away Bunny. I found it at goodwill and it took the place of the Easter Elmo book as the book we read everyday. Every time we get to the part where the mama rabbit becomes the wind and blows the baby rabbit sail boat, we look at each other and blow in each others face.

The other day Rae looked at me and said "hear daddy!" you hear daddy? "Hear daddy outside!" .... someone was mowing their lawn and she associates the sound with Jeremy, I thought that was so funny.

The cutest thing Rae does though is talk in her sleep. She is such a heavy sleeper that before I go to bed I can go in and check on her, put her head back on her pillow, take off the blanket that's making her sweat, and then I will give her a kiss or say love you and she will respond without opening her eyes! She will say "goodnight mum!" or "I yove you" or sometimes just make the kiss sound back. It's the best.

We spend a lot of time at the library, Rae loves story time and she has gotten pretty handy with a glue stick. Our fridge is full of the things she makes at the library. We also spend a lot of time sweating. What use to be a quick walk around the neighborhood now is a very long walk where I am breathing heavy by the end and wondering if my hip is still attached correctly. I am basically falling apart. Six weeks left. I wake up everyday and think June, June, we made it to June. We are so excited for "baby brother"! Rae says she will not be sharing her chair with baby brother but she is very aware that this imaginary brother of hers has a room and a bunch of stuff around the house. She knows he is in my stomach but she lifts up my shirt everyday to see if she can see him and has no luck. Anytime I say my back hurts or my leg hurts Rae says "Better mum, better". Yeah, it will get better, thanks Rae.

Craft with a Two Year Old

I decided I better document Rae's porcupines so that we can see how our future father's day crafts have progressed through the years. She painted these styrofoam half balls and the little golf tees and she thought that was so fun. I didn't take a picture of her painting because I had to do some serious supervising to teach her how we use paints. Don't dump out the paint, don't mix the colors, use the brush not your fingers... We let the paint dry and then she stuck the golf tees in. Took a lot of concentration and soon when she picked up a stick she would say "not the face!" because I kept stopping her from sticking them in the face. She made one for daddy and one for grandpa (pa-pas).

Here's one of them finished after I already wrapped up the other one. Looks a little scary but for working with a two year old its not that bad, just think what I could come up with with a three year old! (I did the face of course, needed to at least give grandpa a hint that it was something that had a face) Its a porcupine or hedge hog if you still can't tell!! Maybe next year I can get the craft going sooner and we can send one off to Pennsylvania grandpa!

Rae was crazy in sacrament meeting on father's day and Jeremy isn't very good support in the pull to be reverent. But then again, I did get out my phone to take a picture in sacrament meeting so maybe I shouldn't talk.

actually can't say its the first time either-

We went to Lauren's house for fathers day, Rae loves to "bounce" on the trampoline they have and here's a picture with Jeremy. It may frustrate me that he lets Rae do whatever she wants but she sure is crazy about him. Happy father's day!

Happy Birthday Jeremy

Jeremy was in California for work yesterday so we celebrated today. Yes I put toy skateboards on my husbands birthday cake. This was the first year Jeremy didn't request apple pie for his birthday, and he wanted this cake instead. I made this conference weekend and said it was going to be a tradition to have this "conference cake". He really liked it and said he wanted it for his birthday.

All day today I told Rae that when she sees her dad she needs to say happy birthday! I told her like ten times and she practiced saying happy birthday all day and made up a song in the car singing happy birthday. Then when she saw Jeremy she told him happy birthday! I know this is a small thing but I do believe Jeremy's heart was melted! She was also very excited for his birthday because I got juice for her and juice is like this gold that we talk about having at our pretend tea parties but never actually have. So Rae was really cute today. And in the words of Rae "Daddy cute too!".

Notice the artwork on the wall. We made that when Jeremy was in California. Rae made sure Jeremy saw it many times. She also helped me put 30 candles in this cake. Jeremy is 30!

Happy 30th Birthday Jeremy!
